Successful Important Irish Art Auction

Last night’s Auction of Important Irish Art proved to be a great success with quality artworks still fetching strong sums. Top selling items include Louis le Brocquy’s Aubusson Tapestry, Adam & Eve in the Garden, which sold for €76,000; Rising Moon Tangier by Sir John Lavey which realised €76,000 and the painting from the front cover of the auction catalogue, Against the Stream by Jack Butler Yeats, brought €53,000. There are still some attractive unsold lots available at low reserve prices. Contact our offices to enquire. Prices realised for this sale are now available at http://www.whytes.ie

We are also delighted to announce that the two paintings generously donated by Sinead O’Connor for the charity Penny Dinners both exceeded their pre-sale estimates with the portrait of Sinead by Thomas Ryan selling for €8,500 and “Upon Small Shoulders” by Neil Condron, which featured on her album cover released earlier this year, realised a hammer price of €19,500.
