IMPORTANT IRISH ART AUCTION CONFIRMS THE CONTINUING DEMAND FOR IRISH ART OF QUALITY.

Top prices were paid for two Paul Henry works at €100,000 and €82,000 respectively. Seán Keating’s 1924 painting, entitled Salud (illustrated), sold for €52,000 and Gerard Dillon’s West Of Ireland Couple And Horses made €36,000. Another Dillon, The Fish Eaters went for €24,000. Harry Kernoff’s evocative painting of Bray Harbour in the 1930s sold for €28,000 and his busy scene at Store Street, Dublin made €16,000.

More contemporary works were Tony O’Malley’s Pond Reverie which brought €22,000, Barrie Cooke’s large tryptych, Forest, which sold for €18,000 and John Shinnors’ Trapeze I which brought €16,000.

Eclectic Sale Brings Results!

Another great sale of collectibles took place on Saturday with buyers from all over the world bidding online alongside those attending in person and on the telephone.

The top price of €10,500 went to Lot 306 a Ten Pounds banknote of 1939, well exceeding its estimate of €1,200-€1,500.

The Elvis ancestor’s document Lot 125 (illustrated above), sold for €2,300 to a collector in County Wicklow, appropriately, underbid by an institution in County Carlow.
